Four-fifths of King Diamond’s iconic late-80s lineup have reunited under a new name, Lex Legion, with Pagan’s Mind vocalist Nils K. Rue joining them. Their debut single, “Sleep Eternally,” premieres on March 31, and their self-titled album is set to be released through MNRK Music Group this June. More info below.

Lex Legion features drummer Mikkey Dee (Motörhead, Scorpions), guitarist and producer Andy LaRocque, a constant member of King Diamond since 1985, who also played on Death’s influential album Individual Thought Patterns, Pete Blakk, and bassist Hal Patino, all of whom appeared together on King Diamond’s albums Them and Conspiracy. The band also includes vocalist Nils K. Rue, known for his work on five albums with Norwegian prog metal band Pagan’s Mind. Dee and Blakk formed the band, built on over 40 years of shared history and friendship.
The debut single “Sleep Eternally” opens the album with what La Rocque calls “the right tempo and the right kind of vocals, both starting out like a fist in your face.” The follow-up single “Gypsy Tears” will be in the same vein: eerie, propulsive, and built for headbanging. The self-titled debut is described as leaner and more direct than King Diamond’s progressive arrangements, yet clearly rooted in the same era and DNA.

Geared toward fans of classic Iron Maiden, Queensrÿche, Accept, and King Diamond. Lex Legion is set for release via MNRK Music Group in June 2026, with touring to follow in 2027.
