L7 Bassist Jennifer Finch Has Been Diagnosed with an Aggressive Form of Brain Cancer – GoFundMe Launched

Jennifer Finch, bassist for the California Punk legends L7, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Following multiple surgeries, she needs extensive medical care and will not join the band on their upcoming “The Last Hurrah Tour.” The group has launched a GoFundMe to help cover expenses. Jennifer is a punk rock icon for her work in L7, other musical acts, and as a photographer. We were honored to catch L7 several times the last few years, including 2024’s No Values Festival. Please read about the GoFundMe below and donate if you can help.

The band shared the following:

Our beloved bandmate, sister and friend Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Following multiple surgeries and serious complications, Jennifer now requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation and professional in-home support. Friends, family and L7 have launched a GoFundMe to help cover these urgent expenses and allow her to remain safely at home with the care, dignity and support she needs.

The Last Hurrah Tour was planned along with Jennifer when all four of us were in good health and spirits. Although she will not be able to join us for the upcoming U.S. dates, Jennifer has asked us to continue with the tour as planned. We will honor her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority.

Please donate if you are able – and, just as importantly, please share the campaign as widely as possible. Every contribution, share and message of support matters.

Jennifer is part of our family. We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.

A message on the GoFundMe reads:

If you’ve followed Jennifer Precious Finch over the years, you probably know her as a musician, artist, writer, photographer, and someone who’s never been very good at sitting still.

Now she’s facing something she never expected: an aggressive form of brain cancer.

When she first heard the diagnosis, there was reason to believe that treatment, including a full course of radiation, would get her back to some version of normal living. Unforeseen complications led to multiple surgeries and a string of difficult setbacks.

The cancer and everything that comes with it have left her with significant physical limitations so she’s handling this the only way she knows how: one day at a time.

The level of care Jennifer needs has gone beyond what friends and family can safely provide around the clock. As we face the difficult reality that Jennifer may have more good days behind her than ahead, we are asking for help to make the time she has with her friends, family, and fans as comfortable, meaningful, and full of love as possible.

We’re raising funds to help cover:

Professional in-home nursing care, physical and speech therapy, medical equipment, and other essential care

Cover home-care expenses that will allow Jennifer to remain safely and comfortably at home

Recoup significant out-of-pocket medical expenses and legal fees

Preserve Jennifer’s legacy by creating an archive of her artistic and creative work

Completion of a significant creative project that was scheduled for release next year

The cost of giving Jennifer the care she needs is overwhelming, but it’s what gives her the best chance for meaningful improvement while maintaining as much comfort, dignity, and independence as possible. These funds will also help to ensure Jennifer’s life work keeps making noise long after this moment.

If you’re able to contribute, every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Jennifer’s physical and emotional well-being. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page is another meaningful way to help. You never know who might see it.

On behalf of Jennifer and from all of us who love her: Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, every share, and every message reminds Jennifer that she is surrounded by a community that cares deeply for her.
