Emerging Rock powerhouse Burden of The Sky just dropped a new single, an inspired cover of Ellie Goulding’s classic hit single “Lights” and Ghost Cult is premiering the video on our site for you to enjoy! Goulding’s dark pop fantasy dance track is recast here as an Active Rock/emo-ish bliss out jam is amazing! The band doesn’t sacrifice their natural energy or aggression, but the tracks’ epic chorus hooks are still present! Watch the clip here and purchase the song at the link below!
The band commented:
The video came together relatively quick. We wanted the video to mimic the vibe and energy of Ellie’s original video and add in some of our own personality with a slightly darker tone. We shot the video in a warehouse with a full live production lighting rig as the backdrop to bring some of that live arena rock feel into the song. We complimented the live feel with heavy post-production and editing (courtesy of Ryan Diemer and The Sound Aura crew) to capture all of the emotion and energy that we put into the song musically. Lights was a song we all grew up enjoying and our goal with the cover was to give a nod to the original performance while still making it feel like our own. I think the video ultimately helped blend the past and present together to create something totally new.
