Maryland metal act Diegression has released “Broken Lovers,” a new single featuring guest vocals from Scott Magruder, frontman of West Virginia metal mainstays Dysfigure. The track arrives fresh off the band’s appearance at the Wacken Metal Battle USA East Coast Finals and introduces “DiEguy,” the band’s new signature visual character. Stream it now.

Diegression is based in the DMV, between Frederick and Gaithersburg, Maryland. “Broken Lovers” marks a new chapter for the band, arriving with a fully realized visual identity. The artwork was created by Patty of Tatty Patts, a tattoo artist based at Ambrotos Tattoo in Germantown, Maryland, who designed DiEguy as a recurring character to carry Diegression’s imagery forward into future releases.

The single itself digs into the emotional weight of holding on to something that has already ended. The band describes it as being about needing to let go of a relationship both parties know is dead, and the self-growth that follows a traumatic experience as the silence settles.
