Candlemass, by Hillarie Jason

Desertfest’s 2017 London edition kicks off this Friday, April 28th and is set to shake music fans to their very souls. Headlined by the almighty SLEEP, Desertfest London also features Candlemass, Turbonegro, Slo Burn, Wolves In The Throne Room, Saint Vitus, John Garcia Band, Bongzilla and more. Tickets are running out for all venues fast and are expected to sell out. Get rolled up, dipped, and ready to blaze with Ghost Cult’s festival preview.

Taking place at some of London’s, nae, the entire U.K.’s most amazing and legendary music venues such as The Electric Ballroom, The Underworld, The Roundhouse, and The Black Heart, the three days of bands are sure to soothe and deafen with equal measure., as do all Desertscene productions to be honest!

Friday is closed out by the return of Slo Burn at the Electric Ballroom, where they will be joined there by Lowrider, Stoned Jesus and 1000 Mods and more. Ghost Cult perennial faves like The Picturebooks, and STEAK, rock The Underworld with Vodun and Grave Lines. Likely the conflict of the weekend is when ZOMBI plays at The Black Heart Friday opposite Slo Burn’s set. It’d be a tough call for us!Also not to be missed on Friday are BASK. Nightshift Promotions has gigs on at The Devonshire Arms where Dystopian Future Movies appear among others.

Saturday might be the deepest day of the entire fest with Turbonego and Bongzilla fighting it out. Other must-see acts include John Garcia Band, Scissorfight, Inter Arma, Celeste, Chron Goblin, Stubb, Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard, Iron Witch and more. At the very least, it is hands down, it is the festival date of 2017 with the best named bands in the world!

Save your strength for Sunday, since SLEEP at The Roundhouse is mandatory and requires stamina just to handle the aural damage you will take on. Also on the same stage, that night are Candlemass, WITTR, Saint Vitus, and Bongzilla (again!). The Underworld will see one of the first shows in the UK from Wear Your Wounds, the new side project from Jacob Bannon of Converge. Also on that stage will be HARK, Samara Blues Experiment, and Elephant Tree. Sunday at the Black Heart might be the most underrated set of bands with Wizard Fight, Venomous Maximus, Boss Keloid and Wucan teaming up among others.
