For this year’s expanded four-day event, festival organizers have meticulously curated a lineup featuring today’s most in-demand metal, punk, and experimental acts for a weekend celebration of underground music and counterculture. The festival will soon transform downtown Austin into sprawling festival grounds while taking over some of the most popular music venues in downtown Austin, with previously announced performers including Blonde Redhead, Carcass, The Locust, Youth of Today, Xiu Xiu, Autopsy, Converge, William Basinski, Zola Jesus, and Lil Ugly Mane, among others.
The 2022 edition will also mark a further expansion into new genres and sounds as the heavy metal music festival continues its transition of becoming more inclusive and diverse while celebrating other forms of experimental music. Fans can now expect more hip-hop, electronic, avant-garde, and punk music than ever before.
Several newly added acts help to showcase the festival’s evolution such as Detroit-based rapper and media personality Danny Brown, who will help headline the third-year festival while he preps for the highly anticipated release of his sixth album titled ‘Quaranta’ later this year; producer and multi-instrumentalist Andy Morin, who is perhaps best known as a member of the experimental hip-hop trio Death Grips; indie-folk rockers The Microphones, who are performing in Austin for the first time in 20+ years; and punk rap trio Ho99o9 who just released a new single from their forthcoming studio album called “Battery Not Included” that was produced by Blink 192’s Travis Barker.
Other notable new acts include death metal pioneers Massacre, whose Oblivion Access performance will mark a rare Texas reunion for the band; Memphis’s own alt-rapper Cities Aviv; doom metal band King Woman fronted by singer/songwriter Kristina Esfandiari; a special solo set from rapper Billy Woods of Armand Hammer, who is also on the 2022 bill; post-punk rock duo HTRK; and a very rare performance from Full of Hell who will be performing their acclaimed “Trumpeting Ecstacy” album in its entirety.
In total, over 100 music acts from Texas and across the globe are confirmed to perform at this year’s four-day event. The full music lineup is listed below and available online at oblivionaccessfestival.com.
“Our small but mighty team couldn’t be more excited about this year’s lineup which we feel is the most expansive and diverse since the festival’s inception. Whether you like heavy metal, hip-hop, punk, electronic, shoegaze or indie rock, we have a little bit of something for everyone,” said Festival Co-Founder Dusty Brooks. “Get ready too because there are a ton more events on the horizon including a special art gallery, new comedy additions, and some really exciting partnerships that will help take our growing fest to the next level. Buckle up and strap in for a wild ride this spring!”
Beginning this May, the independently-owned heavy metal, extreme rock, and experimental music festival will once again serve as a celebration of underground music and alternative culture while also expanding to four days and tapping more local venues than ever before. Participating venues include returning fan-favorites like Empire Control Room & Garage, Creek and Cave (fka Barracuda), and Mohawk, in addition to new festival stops like Elysium, Hotel Vegas, Valhalla, Native Hostel, and Central Presbyterian Church.
Four-day weekend badges as well as tickets to each of the newly announced concerts will be available for purchase starting this Friday, February 11 at 10 a.m. CT via oblivionaccessfestival.com. Fans are encouraged to act fast as limited supplies remain.
Oblivion Access would like to thank the sponsors and partners responsible for helping bring this year’s event to life including Project M, Revolver Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, The Hard Times, Inked Mag, Saint Vitus, and A2B2.
