CONCERT REVIEW: Lindsey Stirling Live at Gazi Technopolis, Athens

July 17th was quite a memorable evening with the majestical Lindsey Stirling as she finally returned to Greece after several years. Brought in by Eventation, the dual-talented dancing violin player brought her dance troupe and musicians for a night that the crowd would never forget. Also, an extra special night in Athens, having it been at Gazi Technopolis, known for being a gorgeous modern industrial area with a great layout for a show.

As the night lights rolled into the skyline, in the background, the smokestacks of Technopolis brightly lit up in their classic red, and the dome finally lit up in white as Ms. Stirling entered the stage. She comes in at the back of the stage floor while her dancers move about in the front along with her musicians beginning the show.

Stirling plays many different modern classical hits, as well as pop songs throughout the night with those she has collaborated with one way or another. The one that stuck out the most, on a personal level, was when she soloed on “Bach in Fugue Minor,” a personal favorite (to many it is recognizable as a vampire or Halloween theme.)

The crowd, was a true variety of rock, pop, and classical fans alike, as her style caters to all in a quite enjoyable fashion. A known and proudly guilty pleasure to so many.

Throughout the night she joins her dancers during the performance, also frequenting a solo movement, always also making famous leg raises while playing her violin. She makes time to get closer to the crowd and many times takes a moment to tell a story and acknowledge the crowd with her thanks and joy. The crowd cheered her all throughout the performance and every fan completed the experience of a Lindsey Stirling set satisfied and with joy and already ready for her return again soon.
