State Faults Releasing Vinyl Versions of Head In The Clouds

state faults head in the clouds

Santa Rosa, CA melodic hardcore outfit State Faults will be releasing their first proper physical release of Head In The Clouds, out now via Tiny Engines, remixed and remastered.

Before State Faults there was Brother Bear. And before Desolate Peaks there was Head In The Clouds, a jarring six song introduction to four best friends from Santa Rosa, CA turning emotional hardcore upside down. Head In The Clouds is what originally caught the attention of Tiny Engines way back in 2010 and rightfully so. These six songs reflect an innocence and passion that was palpable and explosive. Now for the first time, Head In The Clouds will be released on vinyl, remixed and remastered.

Brother Bear changed their name to State Faults in late 2011 and signed with Tiny Engines. Their debut, full-length, Desolate Peaks, was released in May of 2012 on Tiny Engines. State Faults are currently writing for their next release.

Head In The Clouds – Track Listing

Southern Lord Reissuing Complete YDI Discography

ydi

Southern Lord is releasing the complete discography of Philadelphia hardcore crew YDI. This double-LP document contains every known recording of the band, as well as a 10″x10″ full color photo book with tons of never before seen images from the band’s existing recorded era.

In the early 1980s, YDI (why-die) put Philadelphia on the map with their ferocious brand of speed-obsessed hardcore. Their debut 7″ EP, A Place In The Sun, released in 1983, is a nine-track blast of frantic American hardcore fury, with blistering pace and heaps of fuzz that make your speakers crackle. Come 1985, the band had altered their musical direction, and created filthy, metallic, damaged punk that constantly spirals out of control via scraping guitar-led detours; if you’ve heard Brutal Truth‘s cover of the deranged “I Killed My Family” you’ll recognize the unhinged sense of danger that permeates YDI’s output. The Black Dust LP was the band’s final recording and a criminally underrated slab of disgusting mayhem.

YDI Lineup:
[for A Place in The Sun]
Mike Cole – guitar
Chuck Meehan – bass
Howard Twiggs – drums
Jackal aka Neil Perry – vocals

[for Black Dust LP]

Warhorse Streaming “I Am Dying”

warhorse-ash

Massachusetts doom rockers Warhorse is streaming “I Am Dying”, off As Heaven Turns To Ash… + I Am Dying, out February 24, 2015 via Southern Lord Recordings here.

The gargantuan psalm comes by way of the band’s final EP of the same name, initially unleashed in 2002 and now available as a companion to the band’s As Heaven Turns To Ash… full-length, both given the reissue treatment by Southern Lord Recordings. Long out-of-print, fervently sought after, and unconditionally vital in foreshadowing the glut of current bands that indulge in slow, self-possessed, infernal low-end sound excursions, Warhorse’s As Heaven Turns To Ash and their subsequent I Am Dying EP still reeks of brimstone, bong smoke, and burning tube amp nearly fifteen years since their respective releases! Both slabs of doom domination will be combined and reanimated on double LP and digital formats courtesy of the Lord.

Stream “Doom’s Bride” here.

Forged in 1996 and lasting the best part of a decade, the output of Warhorse wallows deep down, grooving at the kind of frequency usually associated with imminent natural disaster. But in addition to their intricate delivery, WARHORSE exuded an experimental, subtle psychedelic swagger which gave rise to gritty and memorable riffs, and saw them sharing stages with the likes of such amplification legends as Electric Wizard, Khanate, Acid King, High On Fire and Unearthly Trance.

In March of 2014 the band delivered the fantastic jams of their sophomore album, Supa-Collider, their dexterous diversity and empowering tactics shining brighter than the blazing sun which ignites their desert surroundings on the album, putting the listener on cruise control into the furthest reaches of the planet and beyond, the tunes infiltrated with a slight flux of sci-fi otherworldliness. Fans of Clutch, Deep Purple, Fu Manchu, Thin Lizzy, Queens Of The Stone Age and Fu Manchu, tune in.

The Tiger Lillies Reissuing Bad Blood + Blasphemy via Corpse Flower Records

tiger lillies bad blood

Corpse Flower Records will be reissuing cult British trio The Tiger Lillies album Bad Blood + Blasphemy in April. Check out the trailer here.

Bad Blood + Blasphemy Track Listing:
Side A
1. Bad
2. Killer
3. Car Crash
4. Maria
5. Start a Fire
6. Soho Boy
7. Neighbour
Side B
1. Angel
2. XYZ
3. Crack of Doom
4. Clown
5. Rapist
6. Salvation
7. Dead Souls

Often deemed the forefathers of Brechtian punk cabaret, THE TIGER LILLIES are notorious for a wholly unique sound and aesthetic which merges the macabre magic of pre-war Berlin, the savage edge of punk rock, anarchic opera and gypsy music. Founding frontman, Martyn Jacquesspent, spent much of his 20s in a flat above a brothel in London’s Soho, peeping through his window at the buzz of Soho’s lowlife. It took him a good ten years to turn that strange world into art, while training as a singer and songwriter. In 1989 he got his first accordion and THE TIGER LILLIES were formed shortly thereafter.

Back in the early ’90s, the avant garde trio stood out immediately for its distinct musical craftings and quickly worked their way up from London pubs to the Piccadilly Theatre and buskers’ benches to the Sydney Opera House. Soon the THE TIGER LILLIES were touring the world and participating in various art and theatre projects. Within the last two decades THE TIGER LILLIES have performed an average of over two-hundred gigs a year and despite spending so much time on the road, they’ve managed to release more than one album a year. They’ve participated in numerous shows all over the world, collaborating with artists of all disciplines: from circus performers to Shakespearean actors, experimental dancers to avant garde photographers and burlesque puppeteers to classical music ensembles. The world of THE TIGER LILLIES is dark, peculiar and varied, with moments of deep sadness, cruel black humor and immense beauty. Their songs cover all the dark aspects of life, from prostitution and drug addiction to violence and despair. Always with a touch of twisted comedy and sharp irony. THE TIGER LILLIES shock, amuse and entertain in a postmodern vaudeville way, with their inimitable in-your-face shows, where no limit should be taken for granted.

Initially released in 1999 via the band’s own Misery Guts Music, Bad Blood + Blasphemy boasts fourteen delightfully twisted compositions of signature THE TIGER LILLIES audio absurdity accompanied by the talents of some of Berlin’s finest Turkish musicians. Given the wax treatment for the very first time, the Corpse Flower edition was mastered for vinyl by James Plotkin (OLD, Scorn, Khanate, Khlyst), includes brand new artwork by Mark Rudolph (Carcass, Coalesce, Battlecross) and will be limited to 500 copies in four different color variants: black, oxblood splatter on bone, blood red, and oxblood in milky clear. Preorders will come with a hand drawn 8″x10″ illustration of THE TIGER LILLIES (by Rudolph).
