Mixed by vocalist Kevin Quilligan and mastered by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio (Fleshgod Apocalypse,Hour Of Penance etc.), the record boasts nine vicious hymns of Sci-Fi-tinged death metal centered on themes ranging from transcendental travel, rapid evolutionary progression, and global epidemics, to artificial intelligence in all-out war with their maker.
Swedish epic doom metallers Sorcerer is streaming “The Gates Of Hell,” off their new albumIn The Shadow Of The Inverted Cross, out March 24, 2015 via Metal Blade Recordshere.
Sorcerer was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1988 but disbanded after two demos in 1992. Both demos are considered true Doom Metal classics and have been released on CD in 1995. In 2010 the band came back together to play the Hammer of Doom Festival in Germany and a year later the Up The Hammers Festival in Athens, Greece. Both shows were received extremely well and the thoughts of putting together a new album started to take form. In the end it took over two years to write, arrange and record it but the result is nothing but pure, heavy epic doom metal. The process of putting all bits and pieces together and making it ready for mix and mastering was the work of drummer Robert Iversen, also a very fine recording engineer, who was acting as the spider in the recording web. The album was mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Devin Townsend).

At first blush, it might seem easy to dismiss The Beautiful Ones as yet another in a long line of current hardcore bands aping late ’80s NYHC conventions. Upon further investigation, a deeper and more genuine aesthetic becomes apparent, as evidenced on their new full length, Jaded Love. The NYHC elements are undeniably present, yet a broader spectrum of influences stand out as well. Clearly the band has been listening to everything from Alice In Chains to Slowdive and have impressively melding them into one cohesive sound all their own. Unafraid to explore their mellower side, The Beautiful Ones recruited Pity Sex vocalist Britty Drake to sing on two of their new songs, including “The Morning” which features Drake handling lead vocal duties. The result is unlike anything heard on records from their contemporaries and nods towards a certain progression for the band. The Beautiful Ones are not the sort of band that sets out to turn things on their head, but with Jaded Love they may be naturally stepping in that direction, and the results are striking.

Minnesota death metallers Incinerate is streaming “From Distant Worlds,” off of Eradicating Terrestrial Special, out April 21, 2015 via Comatose Music, here.
After the departure of founding member and songwriter Scott Ellingboe, many were skeptical of what the future would hold for this veteran outfit. However, the current lineup – featuring guitarist Ted Isac and bassist Sasha Wilczynski, along with original member Jesse Watson and returning drummer Darren Cesca – has laid to waste any doubts lingering over the band’s re-emergence.
Eradicating Terrestrial Species will push the boundaries set by 2008’s Anatomize, yet stay true to their traditional sound with mind-bending ferocity. Conceptually the album is science fiction meets the absence of faith in religion and will prove to be Incinerate’s most involved and accomplished musical endeavor to date.
The Prophecy: Inhuman Inoculation
The Arrival: From Distant Worlds
Travelers of Space: Eliminating the Indigenous
Loss of Faith: Unable to Ascend
Infinite Power: Cultivation of Human Offspring
Rise of the Humans: The Berserker
Fucking the Rotting Nun
The album now comes raging back to life on 180-gram translucent green vinyl with orange and black splatters, housed in a deluxe gatefold package and bearing the new LP-only track, “Highish Noon,” along with a download of the record.
POWERED WIG MACHINE Live:
Mar 17: JR’s Bar – Sierra Vista, AZ (w/ Ape Machine, Ghetto Blaster)
Now in their eighth year as a band, Powered Wig Machine’s ever-evolving, entertaining brew of fuzzed-out, southern fried blues-boogie and righteous jams merging classic rock/blues influences with that of top-tier modern rock acts, the Tombstone, Arizona-based “Tombstoners” have issued several recorded works since inception, including their 2009 debut full-length, Bearded Goddess. In March of 2014 the band delivered the fantastic jams of their sophomore album, Supa-Collider, their dexterous diversity and empowering tactics shining brighter than the blazing sun which ignites their desert surroundings on the album, putting the listener on cruise control into the furthest reaches of the planet and beyond, the tunes infiltrated with a slight flux of sci-fi otherworldliness. Self-recorded by the band and mixed by Brian Gold at Primrose Studio in Sierra Vista, mastered by Chris Goosman at Baseline Audio, the artwork was crafted by Joseph Rudell and Rudy Flores. Fans of Clutch, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Queens Of The Stone Age and Fu Manchu, tune in.
Northern German two piece monster Mantar is releasing their debut album Death By Burning on May 19, 2015 via Brutal Panda Records. The LP versions will include a full download of Death By Burning along with an exclusive 8 track live set from the band’s German St. Pauli Sessions. Footage from those sessions can be viewed below.
Recorded in 2013 and titled Death By Burning, the album was originally released to immense critical acclaim in Europe in 2014 by Svart Records, and is a raw, self-produced, and 100% DIY display of power. Managing to sound even heavier than most five-piece bands, in spite of the fact that no bass guitar was used on the record, Death by Burning channels early Melvins, Motorhead, and Darkthrone, to deliver a deliciously evil blend of blackened punk. A music video for the song “March of the Crows” can be viewed below.
The half-German/half-Turkish duo, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Hanno Klaenhardt and drummer Erinc Sakarya, are currently on their first US tour with American black metallers Mutilation Rites.
