Spanish heavy metallers Whirlwind have premiered a new track, “Lese Majesty (Corpus de Sang)” via the NWOTHM YouTube channel. It is the third preview of their second album, 1640, out April 24 via Dying Victims Productions. Stream it now.

Whirlwind was conceived by Mark Wild, also known as the Spanish extreme metal band Körgull The Exterminator, as a vehicle for his lifelong love of classic Eighties heavy metal. Shaped by Teutonic legends like early Running Wild, early Helloween, Accept, Grave Digger, and Stormwitch, alongside Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest, Wild built Whirlwind into a full live outfit with permanent members drawn from bands including Redshark.

Their 2022 debut, 1714, generated significant underground buzz and earned the band slots at prominent Spanish festivals, including Pounding Metal Fest and Skulls of Metal, where they shared stages with Visigoth, Attic, Omen, Mindless Sinner, and Iron Curtain, among others.

1640 follows the same historical blueprint as its predecessor, this time focusing on the Thirty Years’ War and the internal conflicts of seventeenth-century Spain. Musically, the album is a masterclass in classic Teutonic metal — mid-tempo stompers alongside up-tempo gallops, riff and lead working in tandem, and a production that honors the mid-Eighties underground without sacrificing punch. Three tracks have now been revealed: “Days of Doom”, “Winds of Ash and Dust”, and “Lese Majesty (Corpus de Sang)”.
