The Levitation festival is returning to Austin, Texas, September 10–13, across the Red River District, East Side venues, and beyond. The organisers have now announced the full lineup for the 2026 edition, featuring Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats, Butthole Surfers, Monolord, Bikini Kill, Angine De Poitrine, Nitzer Ebb, American Football, and many others. The festival is excited to share the 2026 lineup, which is an eclectic, genre-spanning showcase of psych rock, punk, metal, darkwave, indie rock, electronic music, and everything in between–a celebration of independent music and art from across generations.
Radio/East will serve as the festival’s central hub, featuring an expanded two-stage layout, while Levitation’s beloved late-night and club shows continue across Red River and throughout Austin.
For over a decade, Levitation has delivered lineups spanning psych, dream pop, punk, indie, metal, darkwave, and electronic music. It’s a beloved record collection manifested as a four-day weekend: a heady amalgamation of vintage gear, immersive light shows and visuals, buzzing amps, moody synths, and good times in Austin, Texas.
The multi-venue format encourages fans to choose their own adventure throughout the weekend–grab single-show tickets for over 20 shows announced so far, or go all in with a 4-Day Pass and experience the full festival. Additional acts will be added, including a secret Sunday headliner to be announced soon!
Founded in 2008 as Austin Psych Fest by members of The Black Angels and friends, the independent event sparked a movement, inspiring the creation of similar events across the globe. Austin Psych Fest was renamed Levitation in honor of Austin’s psychedelic rock pioneers The 13th Floor Elevators, who reunited and performed at Levitation 2015 for the band’s 50th anniversary. The event has stayed true to its original mission – to be a hub for the psych rock scene – while expanding into the worlds of metal, electronic music, punk, and all manner of independent and underground music.
Through Austin’s famed music venues and live music scene, and a host of collaborators and friends from Austin and beyond, the event continues to be a pillar of the global music scene. Levitation fosters a thriving community, pushes genre boundaries, and continues to shape the cultural landscape of Austin as a hub for cutting-edge and alternative sounds.
The Reverberation Appreciation Society (RVRB), the record label and creative collective that started the original event, has released records by key bands in the psych and garage rock scene, and kicked off its Live at Levitation archive series in 2021 with live releases from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Kikagaku Moyo, The Black Angels, Primal Scream and more.
Levitation Sessions, the imprint’s live album + film series, captures bands like Osees, Windhand, Ty Segall, SLIFT, Death Valley Girls and more, performing in unique locations and pressed to limited edition vinyl. RVRB’s online shop offers an ever-expanding selection of limited edition vinyl from other labels, guitar pedals, turntables, art prints, one of a kind tie-dyes, and more.
