Queen are undoubtedly a heavy-weight mainstay of rock history. The rock band known for many things, including guitar riffs, piano inserts and harmonies. Freddie Mercury’s unique stage presence and voice have remained unrivalled.
There’s a new version of The Miracle Box Set released and rumours of a tour, with Adam Lambert, Brian May, who played guitar and vocals, and Roger Taylor, who is the band’s drummer and vocalist.
The Miracle
Thought to be one of Queen’s best offerings in the eighties, The Miracle has had a makeover and been re-released as a box set with some previously unreleased tracks. With bass player John Deacon in retirement, May and Taylor have busied themselves with this project, making it a must-have for diehard fans around the world.
Back in 1986, Queen had finished their Magic Tour. Neither they nor their fans knew that this would be the last tour to feature the four original band members. Against a backdrop of personal turmoil being churned out in the tabloids, the band immersed themselves in producing The Miracle.
Its re-release provides fans, and anyone into music, a brilliant insight into how the band worked to produce their killer hits. For instance, the song, The Miracle, originally had different lyrics to what finally appeared on the 1989 album. There’s even a surprising duet between Mercury and Taylor.
All four band members shared songwriting credits, which was the first time this had occurred on a band album. Queen had managed to produce around 30 tracks, of which only 10 made the cut to feature on the album when it was first released in 1989. Now fans will get to hear some unheard tracks, with “Face It Alone” being the first new song to feature Freddie Mercury’s vocals.
Queen Touring with Adam Lambert
There are discussions going on between Adam Lambert and the active members of Queen about a possible tour next year, 2023. Lambert has featured with them since 2011, refusing to be acknowledged as Mercury’s replacement. They’ve gone on to have several successful collaborations, with several tours doing well.
If the timing is right, a tour in America could go ahead. If so it looks like it could signal the beginning of the end for the remaining active members of Queen, when it comes to touring. This can only happen on the proviso they are all fit and well, due to the demands that touring takes on performers.
Live events are something many of us look forward to, whether it’s going to a concert, like this, a performance by a comedian or a sports/gaming event. For those that can’t go attend them, the internet can enable them to watch or interact online. Take the livestreaming by singer Ben Gibbard back in 2020, which was popularly received. The ability to play games, like live bingo from the comfort of wherever a player happens to be has been part of this digital revolution. When someone chooses to play the game online, they are no longer limited to digital versions. Perhaps Queen could offer a live-streamed version of their event so that all their many fans can attend in whichever capacity suits them best.
Queen has stood the test of time. The royalty of rock continues to make their presence felt. Fans around the world are in for a treat, both with the release of The Miracle and the rumours of a potential tour. Being able to get together with fans around the world to sing much-loved songs with the band is something most rock lovers wouldn’t want to miss.
