The Darkness has released “Masters of the Universe,” the theme song for the new He-Man live-action film of the same name, which hits theaters on June 5th. The track was written by frontman Justin Hawkins and guitarist Dan Hawkins, who also produced and mixed it alongside film composer Daniel Pemberton. Watch the video below.

The band comments: “When He-Man asked whether we could provide some music for his forthcoming biopic ‘Masters of the Universe,’ we dusted off our trusty loincloths, assembled in the courtyard of Castle Darkness, and bellowed in unison WE HAVE THE POWER. Also, Brian May was there.”
The Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios film, directed by Travis Knight, stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms. Lakeshore Records released a separate track from the soundtrack, “Eternia,” featuring Queen guitarist Brian May, ahead of the full soundtrack album, which also arrives June 5th.
The Darkness will support Iron Maiden at Knebworth in July and release a best-of collection, Crock of Hits, in October. A seven-date UK arena headline tour follows in December, opening at Glasgow OVO Hydro on December 8th and closing with the band’s debut headline performance at The O2 in London on December 16th.
