CONCERT REVIEW: Queensryche – Marty Friedman – Trauma Live at The Marquee Theatre


Queensrÿche brought their Digital Noise Alliance tour to The Marquee Theatre in Tempe, with fellow metal legends shredder Marty Friedman, and Bay Area thrash/heavy metallers Trauma (the original band Cliff Burton was in before he joined Metallica). It would have been Cliff’s 61st birthday. Continuing with tradition, host Nicholas Gomez hosted and spoke with Cliff’s family and friends, about their personal memories and cherished time with Cliff. ALBUM REVIEW: I Prevail – True Power


 

I Prevail, when they revealed themselves to the world with their breakout Taylor Swift cover, could only be described as bursting onto the scene. Since then the post-hardcore group has become one of the most exciting bands out today. Smashing out more hits in two albums than some bands accomplish in their whole career. In their last release Trauma, the band delved into different external influences bringing rapping into their songwriting, will True Power carry on this trend?

ALBUM REVIEW: GGGOLDDD – This Shame Should Not Be Mine


GGGOLDDD, based in the Netherlands, have for the past decade been releasing material that defies genre conventions and blurs the boundaries between all manner of musical styles, from Metal, to post-Punk, to Pop, to Trip-Hop. Their fifth full-length release, This Shame Should Not Be Mine (Artoffact Records) is based around deeply personal themes to vocalist Milena Eva, who uses this record, conceived during the 2020 lockdown, to address traumatic events including sexual assault.

Trauma Vocalist Donnie Hiller Has Died


Sad news to report as Bay Area Thrash vocalist Donnie Hiller of Trauma has died. The news came across from the band’s Facebook page, which you can see below. Donnie died yesterday September 28th, 2020, after a short illness, but no cause of death was revealed. Trauma is of course linked to Metallica history as they got Cliff Burton to leave that band and join them instead in 1982.  Their last album As the world dies released in 2019. We send our sympathies out to Donnie’s family, friends, and the band as well at this difficult time.

I Prevail have today dropped a new video for the song ‘DOA,’ featuring rapper Joyner Lucas who has celebrated a Platinum-certified album & a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Song for his co-write and feature on Eminem’s ‘Lucky You’. The video has a trigger warning for graphic violence, viewer discretion is advised. I Prevail previously shot videos that provoke conversations around depression, anxiety, physical abuse and many more so it makes sense they address prevalent issues in the states with ‘DOA’.
