Rami Malek again brought home the trophy as he collected the prestigious Academy Award (a.k.a. the Oscars) last night in Hollywood. Malek has won every major best actor awards for his portrayal of legendary rock singer Freddie Mercury of Queen in Bohemian Rhapsody, now the largest grossing music biopic of all-time. Sadly, the film did not win for Best Picture, losing in an upset to another music-history-related film Green Book. Queen + Adam Lambert opened the Academy Awards last night by performing their hit singles ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ at the top of the show. The band was introduced by actors Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, famous for their roles as Queen worshiping rockers in Wayne’s World. Myers also has a bit role in Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen was performing in celebration of the bands’ nomination for the Bohemian Rhapsody film’s Best Picture at the Oscars, as well as many other nominations for the film. Continue reading
Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” Film Lands Five Academy Award Nominations For 2019
Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic about the rise of the band Queen and its iconic frontman Freddie Mercury is already the largest grossing film biography about a musician or band ever. They cleaned up recently at the Golden Globes awards winning best picture and best actor for Rami Malek in his portrayal of Mercury. Now the film has been nominated for five Academy Awards, a.k.a. The Oscars or The Oscar Awards.
The film is nominated in the categories of “Best Picture,” “Sound Editing,” “Sound Mixing,” “Film Editing,” and “Best Actor,” for Malek again. Video: Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters Performs Beatles Cover At The Academy Awards
Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters gave a special performance at last nights Academy Awards (a.k.a. The Oscars) during their In Memoriam segment, honoring entertainers who passed away. Among those honored were the recently passed on David Bowie and Metallica: Some Kind of Monster director Bruce Sinofsky whom both died in 2015. Grohl performed a cover of ‘Blackbird’, by The Beatles.
