Press Notes

The Steepwater Band, a blaring rock ‘n’ roll group from the windy city has released a new music video for their song “Hard As Stone (2015)”. It was shot and edited by Jon Richey of VUture Visions and filmed at Crushtone Studios in Cleveland, OH where the band recorded the song with platinum producer Jim Wirt (Incubus,Fionna Apple, Buffalo Killers). The unique “behind the scenes” footage gives fans an inside look into the song making process. Check it out now at Relix .

“Hard As Stone (2015)” is a new recording of an old fan favorite and will be on Diamond Days: The Best of The Steepwater Band 2006-2014, a “best of” collection that also features eight remastered tracks and a new song called “Silver Lining”. The record will be released digitally and on CD via Sun Pedal Recordings (Warner Music Group) on 2/17. A vinyl release is scheduled in April of 2015 and all three are currently available forpre-order along with limited merch that is exclusive to this release.

“‘Hard As Stone’ is an older tune of ours that we pumped some new life into with the new re-recorded version,” says vocalist/guitarist Jeff Massey. “Lyrically, its about dealing with loss, whether it be a relationship, a death, or just rolling with change, in general. It’s a song that always stood out for us as a band, mainly because our music is generally a heavier blues based sound. ‘Hard As Stone’ is stylistically a bit different than our other material. The song opened up new doors and possibilities for our music.”

“Silver Lining” and “Hard As Stone (2015)” will be the first studio recordings with the band’s newest member, guitarist Eric Saylors. The “best of” will be a sneak peek of the group’s new sound before they release a brand new full-length album next year.”

Buffalo Killers Releasing Fireball Of Sulk November 24, Upcoming Shows

Buffalo Killers

Cincinnati Rockers Buffalo Killers will be releasing their new record titled Fireball Of Sulk and is streaming it here. Produced by Jim Wirt (Incubus, Fiona Apple) at Crushtone Studios, the album will be released on November 24, 2014 via Sun Pedal Recordings. Physical copies of the album will include a second bonus disc with all the songs from Heavy Reverie, their previous album.

Vocalist/bassist Zach Gabbard spoke about the album:

“Not to sound like a broken record, but our albums really reflect where we are in a particular moment. Once the album is finally released, we have traveled 6-12 months of road and we are so far from that point of creation that to hear it again is exciting on many levels – we finally get to share the material with everyone and we have enough distance from it, that we can enjoy it in an all-new way.”

“‘Fireball of Sulk’ is our 7th studio album. We are super proud of that fact. It’s really unheard of for a band these days. We’ve made more records than all my heroes.

When asked to talk about writing particular songs on the record, Gabbard said:

“From a songwriting standpoint, I had a time-traveling experience. I was working on ‘Weird One’ and recalled a song that I had written 15 years ago, ‘Marshmallow Mouth,’ and resurrected it for this album because they are both reflecting on my youth – only one was written during that time and the other, as a man 15 years older, reflecting on that time period.”

The band has announced these upcoming shows:

Nov 22: The Stone Fox – Nashville, TN
Nov 26: Northside Tavern – Cincinnati, OH
Nov 28: Canal Street Tavern – Dayton, OH
Dec 12: Skully’s – Columbus, OH
Dec 13: Musica – Akron, OH

Tracklist:
1. Blankets On The Sun
2. Weird One
3. Marshmallow Mouth
4. Something Else
