Alright Streaming “Watercolors”

Charlotte, NC’s Alright is streaming “Watercolors,” off their Self Titled EP, out March 24, 2015 via Negative Fun Records with assistance from Self Aware Records below.

Singer/guitarist Sarah Blumenthal began to play music with Joshua Robbins, currently of Late Bloomer, in 2013. After months of writing songs and finding their specific voice, the two decided they needed a full-time drummer to cement themselves. Enter Garrett Herzfeld, formerly of It Looks Sad, and Alright were now a fully-formed unit. The band takes the more direct approach to songwriting when compared to their other musical outlets. Most songs are no frills pop anthems coated in fuzz and sugary vocals.

North Carolina indie punk pop band Museum Mouth is streaming music videos for “Sacred” here and “Just Friends” here, off their latest album Alex I Am Nothing, out now via Self Aware Records.

Alex I Am Nothing follows up the U R Who U Let Die EP and the 2012 Sexy But Not Happy full length album. Both releases are available for name-your-price download here.

Stream the video for “Sexy But Not Happy” here.

Stream “Crocodile” here, “Alex Impulse” here, and “Drool” here.

Alex I Am Nothing is a concept album about becoming obsessed with someone you can not have. The chords and song structures throughout the record stay consistent, there are repeated lyrical themes and the album is bookended with two “Alex” tracks. The record plays out the entire lifespan of said “relationship” (friendship, obsession, etc.) with the opening track (“Alex Impulse”) setting the scene and resolving with the closing track (“Alex Decider”). Side A tries to rationalize this doomed relationship whereas Side B accepts that the relationship will never happen. While this particular story is told through the lens of a gay male, it is a narrative that is universal regardless of sex or orientation.
