The Legendary Club “The Chance” Closes After Hatebreed Headlines the Final Concert at Venue


 

Sad news for longtime Rock and Metal fans in New York, as The Chance in Poughkeepsie has hosted its final concert last weekend, October, 29th, 2023. Hatebreed was the final band to perform at the storied venue, as we know it. The club hosted rock and metal bands for over 60 years. Hatebreed were supported at this gig by Internal Bleeding and Sickbay. After first opening in 1912 as a vaudeville theater, the venue had taken many names and forms and had hosted tons of classic rock bands, including one of the infamous first ever US performances from The Police, David Bowie, The Kinks, and more. Since 1980 as The Chance, the venue has hosted tons of Hardcore and Metal festivals and concerts. The venue’s longtime and much-missed owner Frank Pallett passed away suddenly at age 51 in August of 2021, throwing the club’s future in doubt. Frank’s family managed the club after a brief closure, but now the building’s new owners want to redevelop the footprint.Continue reading
