After premiering at the Sundance Film Festival, Evan Rachel Wood’s documentary Phoenix Rising about enduring and ultimately surviving abuse from her former partner Marilyn Manson has made its debut on HBO. You can watch it on HBO and HBO Max. The film is an unflinching autobiographical look at Wood’s life, abuse she suffered at the hands of Marilyn Manson (Brian Warner), which included grooming her as a teenage, rape, sexual abuse and torture, domestic violence, maniupulation, drug abuse, and self-ham (Manson). The film also follows Wood’s personal journey of recovery, uniting other survivors of his abuse, and getting The Phoenix Law passed to protect victims. Wood is also seeking YouTube to remiove the “Heart Shaped Glasses” video fron the social video network as she claims to have been drugged and raped during the filming. Manson is suing Wood and Illma Gore (both the filmmakers and current partners) for defamation, and has called the allegations against him “horrible distortions of reality.” Within hours after Wood announcing her allegations against him back on February 1st, 2020, Manson’s record label, Loma Vista Recordings (home to Ghost and Korn) dropped him from the label and vowed to stop promoting his current release. All of Manson’s music and merch was removed from the label website and webstore. He also lost his lucrative active gigs on TV and movies, and his agent of 25 years, Tony Ciulla, has dropped him.Continue reading
