Chester Bennington Of Linkin Park Died One Year Ago Today
The music world was rocked last summer when Chester Charles Bennington, lead singer of Linkin Park committed suicide at age 41. For a generation of music fans, Chester was their voice and represented them. In the wake of his passing remaining members of the band put on a live tribute concert to him raising money for suicide awareness, and supported the One More Light Foundation. Formed by his second wife, Talinda who has become a mental health advocate and activist. Countless musical tributes were shared by peers and fans in the last year. It was a matter of time before Deftones curated their own festival, now it’s here! The first annual Dia De Los Deftones festival will take place on November 3 at Petco Park at the Park in San Diego, California. As I got out of my car and began my walk to The Gramercy Theater, I noticed the wave of fans, most of them wearing Linkin Park shirts, all giving out a surge of excitable energy that would get anyone hyped up. Once inside we got the opportunity to meet Mike Shinoda and it was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. Mike Shinoda, the co-founder and multi-instrumentalist from Linkin Park will release his début solo album this June 15th from his label, Warner Brothers. Dubbed Post-Traumatic, Shinoda wrote the album as a way fo coping with late LP frontman Chester Bennington’s death last summer. Shinoda dropped an EP of the same recently and shared two new singles and a new video today as well. Last night artists from across rock, pop, and metal united at The Hollywood Bowl to pay tribute to Chester Bennington of Linkin Park who died on July 20th of suicide. For Linkin Park, it was their first time on stage since Chester’s death. The band, a host of guests, and the fans who sang every word too performed classic and recent LP music at the show.
