As we previously reported, Machine Head has reunited with original members Logan Mader and Chris Kontos to tour behind the 25th-anniversary release of Burn My Eyes (Roadrunner). The tour is already selling out shows all over the world. Machine Head has announced they will release a re-recorded new version of their classic 1994 album Burn My Eyes album. Frontman Robb Flynn has told U.K.’s Kerrang! magazine that a re-recorded version of the band’s 1994 album, “Burn My Eyes”, will be released later in the year.Continue reading
After the surprising news that Machine Head will tour behind Burn My Eyes with a special lineup of the band in 2019, the band got together – Robb Flynn, Logan Mader, Chris Kontos, and current bassist Jared MacEachern to perform all of Burn My Eyes in its entirety next fall. The shows will consist of the “An Evening With…” a first set with the current lineup of Machine Head performs their more recent hits and other songs, followed by a second full BME set. In a surprising development from the Machine Head camp, three-quarters of the original Burn My Eyes era lineup of the band will reunite for a new headline tour. Founder and mainstay Robb Flynn will join with Logan Mader and Chris Kontos to perform all of Burn My Eyes in its entirety next fall. The shows will consist of the “An Evening With…” a first set with the current lineup of Machine Head performs their more recent hits and other songs, followed by a second full BME set. Current Machine Head bassist Jared MacEachern will perform both sets. Machine Head are auditioning guitarists and drummers to fill out their present lineup. The dates kick off in Germany on October 5 in Freiburg, and continue across Europe, wrapping in Dublin, Ireland on November 8. Even though he gets mad at the press for reporting stuff like this, Machine Head’s Robb Flynn posted on social media today that the band was in the midst of holding auditions for new members. The auditions are being held at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with engineer Zack Ohren, a frequent collaborator of the band. They are seeking to replace Phil Demmel and Dave McClain who quit the band last fall. The band is also continuing to work on recordings of at least two new songs the band has been tracking for a possible single or EP release. Flynn mentioned that bassist Jared MacEachern suggested they give the same list of songs to both the guitar players and drummers rather than different songs for each candidate. Flynn also said they could learn and bring in their own songs for “extra credit”. Among the songs people were asked to learn include ‘Locust’, ‘Old’, ‘Imperium’, ‘From This Day’, ‘Halo’, ‘Aesthetics Of Hate’, ‘Volatile’ and ‘This Is The End’. Flynn calls this a good mix from all of their eras. Machine’Head’s last album Catharsis came out in January 2018 via Nuclear Blast Records to mixed reactions. Continue reading
Machine Head has shared video clips on Instagram of the band recording new music in the studio. Frontman and founder Robb Flynn called the tracks in a video “new heaviness” and the little bit that can be heard sounds like a return to the thrashy songs the band laid down on 2007’s The Blackening (Roadrunner). Flynn is joined by bassist/vocalist Jared MacEachern as the sole remaining members of the band after Phil Demmel and Dave McClain stepped down from the band following a final tour of 2018. The new music would be the first new songs from the band since last year’s divisive Catharsis album, released via their label Nuclear Blast. In a message to their social networks, as well as an email message to their fans, Machine Head has clarified their earlier announcement about their future. Along with the previous message that Phil Demmel and Dave Mcclain are departing the band after long tenures, the band is officially continuing on with founder Robb Flynn and Jared MacEachern and eventually, new members. The upcoming “Farewell tour” is more of a farewell of the current lineup.
