John Wesley is currently working on his follow up album to 2014’s Disconnect, out via InsideOut Music. Check out an interview with John about Disconnect and his career over here.

He comments:

“I have begun sorting through ideas and direction for the next album and have started the process of writing pieces that will come together to form the basis for the album. I will be using much of the same team that recorded the last album and hope to begin actual tracking in the late spring early summer. Until then I will be doing shows in and around Florida and hopefully start working some of the new ideas out in the live set.”

Pain Of Salvation Streaming “Falling Home” Music Video

pain of salvation

Pain Of Salvation is streaming the music video for “Falling Home”, off of the acoustic album of the same name, out now via InsideOut Music here.

The video shot in Iceland by director Hilmir Berg Ragnarsson and produced by Hilmir Berg Ragnarsson and Soley Astudottir.

Pain of Salvation’s Daniel Gildenlöw commented as follows:

“I started last year with four months in the hospital, battling flesh eating bacteria, and somehow managed to bounce back to see myself playing Vegas dressed in a rabbit suit. That considered, it felt perfect to end the year knee deep in snow on Iceland, shooting a video for “Falling Home” in a blizzard, with a dead coyote draping my freezing shoulders. I mean, who would have guessed a few years back that the latter would actually turn out to be one of the more normal situations of my 2014? 🙂
I loved every minute on Iceland, and my all-in personality could not have asked for more. When we were not pushing through the snow outside, we’d sit hours on hours in a cold basement of an old power plant, singing the song over and over again with numbing hands and feet, while the Reykjavik sun was setting outside the heavy concrete walls. Damn, we threw ourselves into this video, whole-heartedly and passionately, and I think anyone watching it will feel that.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped out with this video, but most of all to Hilmir and Sóley!”

Pain of Salvation Line-Up 2014:
Daniel Gildenlöw – lead vocals, acoustic guitars
Ragnar Zolberg – acoustic guitars, vocals
Léo Margarit – drums, vocals
Daniel D2 Karlsson – rhodes, organs, vocals
Gustaf Hielm – acoustic basses, upright bass, vocals

Leprous Working On New Album

leprous

Norwegian Progsters LEPROUS are back in the studio working on the follow-up album to 2013’s acclaimed release Coal, which was successfully promoted with tours through Europe, Japan, North America and the UK. The still-untitled new album is expected for a May 2015 release via InsideOutMusic.

LEPROUS have recorded the drums for their new album in Sweden’s Fascination Street / Studio Gröndal with David Castillo (Katatonia, Opeth) and will – just like on Coal and its preceding album Bilateral – be mixing the album with Jens Bogren at Fascination Street studio.

The band have checked in with the following update straight from the studio:

“We’re super-stoked about the new material we have composed. It’s not really Coal material, following our mantra about not making the same album twice.

The writing process has been very different this time. Most of the music has been made by Einar, on a computer. Almost all the guitar riffs for example (and Einar has no idea about how to play guitar…), so the guitar players were up for a challenge.

At the moment we’re finished recording drums, and Baard has delivered a stunning performance, so now it’s time for the rest of us, to lay down the guitars, bass and keys, before we round the whole thing up with vocals-recordings in the beginning of the new year.

Mixing and mastering will take place in late January, so we expect a release in May, but all of that is up to our label. Right now, we’re just concentrating on doing our part to perfection.”

July 11: Barcelona (Spain) – BeProgMyFriend Festival
Oct 03: Cologne (Germany) – Euroblast Festival
Oct 04: Baarlo (The Netherlands) – Progpower Europe

LEPROUS line-up:
Einar Solberg – Lead Vocal, Synth
Tor Oddmund Suhrke – Guitar, Vocal
Øystein Landsverk – Guitar, Vocal
Martin Skrebergene – Bass
Baard Kolstad – Drums

Devin Townsend Project Streaming Lyric Video For “March Of The Poozers”

devin townsend project

Devin Townsend Project has released a new lyric video for “March Of the Poozers”, off Dark Matters side of , and can be streamed here.

Check out lyric videos for “Deathray” here and “Rejoice” here.

Devin checks in with this:

“Hey all, Dev here…closing out the North American tour and a heck of a year. I released 4 albums this year, if you count the bonus disc of Casualties, went through the crazy Pledge process (still going through it) and it was generally a hectic time.

I feel like I’m at the end of a creative cycle… The Z2 project beat me up in a way I wasn’t expecting, but when all was said and done, I’m very proud of it. It’s an accurate description of a really stressful period, but I didn’t sell out, and I saw it through. Thanks to all of you who continue to support.

My mind is full of music again, as it always is, but I’m trying to absorb some of the lessons that came with the over scheduling and chaos of this last period, and I look forward to getting my process back on track. Again, I’m constantly shocked by the fact I get to do this for a living. Thank you.

Here’s another track from Z2, called ‘March of the Poozers’. To be honest, my main motivation to make this album was so I could make those crazy puppet shows that are now online, but musically, it’s kind of typical random music that I’ve been interested in for the past few years. This song was directly influenced by the band ‘Samael’ whom I have great affection for as people, and I’m happy to present it with a lyric video that Stefan at Media Logistics went above and beyond for.

What’s next for me I think will be a short break before the European tour and the Royal Albert Hall show, but then, I have ideas for a destructive bass driven apocalypse record, a meditative record, a symphony, more Casualties, more DTP and a kind of big band thing, none of these ideas are confirmed, but I’m finding myself getting fired up to create in ways I haven’t been able to for a few years because of my schedule. I need to regroup and then I’ll see you soon.

I love music. Thank you for the inspiration, lessons and support. Devin”

As mentioned, Devin Townsend Project are currently on tour with Animals As Leaders & Monuments. The remaining dates are as follows:
