Progressive Metal Supergroup Sons Of Apollo featuring Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian (formerly of Dream Theater) along with guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses), bassist Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big, The Winery Dogs) and vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman, Trans Siberian Orchestra) have spent the last week in a marathon writing session for their new album. Portnoy posted to his Facebook account with a photo to break the news.* The bands’ acclaimed debut album Psychotic Symphony was released in 2017 via InsideOut Music. The track comes off of their upcoming new album Distance Over Time, releasing on February 22, 2019, via InsideOut Music. Devin reports that the album will be out this March, as expected from his longtime label InsideOut Music. Devin also shared Troy Glessner’s post with a photo of the files of the apparently completed master of the album. Devy also shared an image that may be the album cover and logo. In a series of tweets, Devin Townsend revealed he is nearing completion of his new album, Empath, due this spring via InsideOut Music. In addition to frequent collaborator Anneke Van Giersbergen (Vuur), Devy is working with Chad Kroger of Nickelback, Che Dorval, Mike Keneally, and others. He discussed the arduous process of making this album and how relieved he is that it is nearing completion. He also commented that the theme of the album is “anti-suicide”. Continue reading
