Foo Fighters guitarist and punk legend Pat Smear (Nirvana, The Germs) has broken his foot and will miss the band’s next few shows on tour while he recovers. Multi-instrumentalist Jason Falkner, (Beck, St. Vincent, ex-Jellyfish) Smear recovers. The Foo’s next tour is also the first full-scale tour for new drummer llan Rubin (Paramore, Angels and Airwaves), who replaced the fired Josh Freeze in 2025. Rubin had been a member of Nine Inch Nails and entered the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2020. Smear is expected to rejoin Foo Fighters in time for their May 8 appearance at the Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida and their summer 2026 European tour, which is scheduled to launch on June 10 in Oslo, Norway.
