SOS FESTIVAL XI – Part II: Manchester, UK

It’s an indisputable fact that it’s never too early for metal, a fact more than embodied by Avarus who have the unenviable task of getting everybody’s head banging on a Sunday noon with some genuinely impressive metalcore. I’m not normally a fan of metalcore so that last sentence still makes me feel slightly confused and somehow vulnerable. Reminiscent of times of Avenged Sevenfold they show some serious promise. A young band they need to work on their stage performance, turning their backs to the audience between songs and a lack of direct stage banter did let them down somewhat, hopefully, that will come with time and confidence as musically they’ve got it. SOS Fest 2017 Part 1: Prestwich, UK

SOS (Schools Out for Summer) fest 2017 was celebrating its 10th year of existence, if you’ve not heard of it then you’re probably not alone but you’re still missing out. SOS fest is the jewel in the crown of small independent family friendly festivals. This festival instantly became an annual highlight for myself and my daughter, as it’s one of few place gigs the average nine-year old can attend and properly rock out, and even practice concert photography.Continue reading


SOS Fest Takes Over Manchester This Weekend, Blaze Bayley, Kill II This, Power Quest To Headline


The UK’s finest and fiercest, but most family friendly rock and metal festival gets underway tomorrow as SOS Festival marks their 10th anniversary. The three-day event held 3 Longfield Centre Prestwich, Manchester. This year’s’ festival is headlined by former Iron Maiden singer and NWOBHM legend Blaze Bayley, the ear damagers in Kill II This, and the always epic Power Quest.Continue reading
