EP REVIEW: GEL – Persona


As the world comes to an end, one can only hope punk and metal bands will get angry regarding our collective demise to provide a decent soundtrack. Thanks to record labels who want products that can be easily marketed a more pop element has been diluting genres that should be holding the middle finger up to the imminent mushroom clouds to come. A few brave bands are shunning this kinder and gentler direction. New Jersey’s GEL is one of them. Their new album Persona (Blue Grape Music)  finds the band ready to give the middle finger, as they get right up in your face with their pumped-up take on punk. 2023’s “Only Constant”  had not only momentum but did not compromise when it came to the songwriting. This time around the energy leans more into the hard-core side, throwing more weight behind its punches. Continue reading


Bike Routes Shares New Single and Video, New EP Coming Soon via Blue Grape Music

Gel Announce Fall Headlining Tour with MSPAINT, Destiny Bond, and The Mall

2024 is shaping up to be a huge year for NJ hardcore heavyweights, GEL. The band recently joined Blue Grape Music, shared plans for their EP, Persona (due out August 16th), and released a roaring new single, “Mirage.” Today GEL are announcing a massive North American headlining tour in support of the record with support from MSPAINT, Destiny Bond, and The Mall. That’s in addition to their already scheduled UK/EU tour that starts this week, which includes festival appearances at Primavera Sound, Download, Roskilde, and more. Gasket Drop a Video for “Syndicate” and Announce New EP



Baltimore hardcore/punk quartet, Gasket, are getting set to release their new EP, Babylon, on  June 21st, via Blue Grape Music records (Code Orange, Gel). Gel Share a Single and Video for “Mirage” and Announce Their New EP



NJ hardcore heavyweights, Gel, recently shared their new single, “Mirage.” Accompanied by a music video, it is taken from their upcoming EP, Persona – the follow up to their 2023 debut full-length, Only Constant.
