Pledge Campaign for Jaco Pastorius Film from Metallica Bassist nears end

An update to the Pledge Music campaign page for Jaco: A Documentary Film, being produced by Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo reveals more information about the project as it nears its goal. With the three days remaining, the campaign for the film about the life of Jaco Pastorius has nearly 1400 pledgers and has raised 95% of its goal. The film is being premiered at this year’s South By Southwest Festival (SXSW) and is also participating in events suck as International Record Store Day 2015 (April 15th) to raise awareness of the visionary Jazz bassist. Trujillo has pursued the film’s creation aggressively from the beginning, with both he and his wife Chloe donating valuable, personal prizes (lessons, gear, designer clothing) for those pitching in.

JACO is an feature documentary film on the life of legendary musician, Jaco Pastorius, slated for release in early 2015.

The film is a passion project of Metallica bassist, Robert Trujillo, who was greatly influenced by Jaco Pastorius’s larger-than-life persona, and his approach to music.

The film is produced by Trujillo and John Battsek of Passion Pictures, and directed by Paul Marchand and Stephen Kijak. It features interviews with visionary musicians such as Sting, Joni Mitchell, Flea, Jerry Jemmott, Bootsy Collins, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, and never-before-seen photos and film from the Pastorius family archive.
