Los Angeles pop punkers Stanley and the Search will be releasing Hell EP on August 7, 2015 via Animal Style Records. They recorded Hell with producer Kyle Black (New Found Glory, State Champs, Hit The Lights). Black’s crisp, hard-hitting production style accents the music perfectly. Hell sounds absolutely massive and is brimming with energy – something any musician knows is no easy task to achieve in a studio setting. They are currently out on a co-headlining tour with This Legend, Dear You and Bad Luck.

Northbound Releasing Reworked Death of a Slug

northbound

Boca Raton rockers Northbound, featuring Jonothan Fraser, will be releasing a reworked version of their 2014 album Death of a Slug via Animal Style Records. Stream their back catalog below.

Fraser, also known as Northbound, comes from a different world than most of his pop-punk peers. After years of DIY touring in the punk and hardcore scenes, Fraser has a very hands-on approach to everything he does, and this has allowed him to be impressively prolific since he began releasing music under the Northbound moniker in 2012. Though it started out as an acoustic solo project, Northbound quickly evolved to its current hybrid state between acoustic and full band. This allows Fraser the flexibility to tour even if touring bandmates Cody Badgley and Kevin Lopez are unable to join him.

Northbound’s flexibility is not limited to the live show, however. The project is currently gearing up to re-release a heavily reworked version of 2014’s Death Of A Slug. The original version of the record was ten songs in length, five of which were acoustic. For this updated version, Northbound replaced all of the acoustic tracks with full-band versions and added two brand new songs. Far from a phoned-in re-release, Fraser has truly turned Death Of A Slug into a proper full-length – and it feels like the way it was always meant to be.

Pop-punk may be a young person’s game most of the time, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for growth – or for grown-ups. Light Years are here to prove that. The band have graduated from the teenage angst that fuels most of their peers, instead turning their focus to the problems that face them in their mid-20s. I Won’t Hold This Against You, their 2013 debut LP released via Paper + Plastick Records, dwelled on the inescapable past while looking for ways to heal the scars incurred while coming of age.

Now working with Animal Style Records, Light Years will release a new five-song EP titled Temporary. The EP, recorded with Will Yip, is a quick, 16-minute blast of blisteringly paced punk-rock showcasing the band sinking their teeth into evolving musicianship and offering up a meaty effort full of hooky choruses, full-bodied guitars and a pounding rhythm section. Temporary is bound to please fans of blink-182, Fenix TX and New Found Glory who are looking for a new undertaking to completely submerge themselves into, rather than a quick listen to forget about later.

Heartless Breakers Book Upcoming Tour With Sundressed

heartless breakers

Salt Lake City rockers Heartless Breakers will be releasing their debut full length The Great Give Back on March 10, 2015 via Animal Style Records. Stream “Presence Unknown” here.

Stream “Carbon Copy” here, and “Everything I Can’t” here.

Two years, two tours, two EPs, and two cities to call home. The story of Heartless Breakers starts with the demise of guitarist Matt Mascarenas’ former band, Daytrader. Following the breakup and living on the east coast, Mascarenas returned to Salt Lake City where he teamed up with vocalist Chase Griffis and drummer Bryan Lee to form Heartless Breakers. Upon his return the trio began working right away and penned their debut release – the Prescriptions EP. Following its release in mid 2013, the band quickly followed the EP with Lighter Doses a short half-year later. Heartless Breakers then hit the road for two tours of the west coast and Midwest. When they returned home, guitarist Sean Jurewicz joined the band, turning the trio into a four-piece.

Now, two years after the band’s inception, Heartless Breakers is ready to show the world what they’re made of with a full length titled The Great Give Back. The ten-song record is just long enough to give listeners a taste of the band’s style without being too lengthy or intimidating. The result is an easily digestible and exceptionally enjoyable listening experience. The band cites influences such as Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, and The Juliana Theory, but there are touches of Brand New to be found throughout The Great Give Back as well.

The band will be heading out on tour with Sundressed in April. Dates are listed below.
