Metalville releases Reincarnation on April 10, a collection of long-lost Sweet recordings from 1985, featuring the late Paul Mario Day on vocals, available on album for the first time since 1989, plus two previously unreleased bonus tracks.
In 1985, Andy Scott and Mick Tucker set out to reform Sweet with a fresh lineup. Scott recruited Phil Lanzon (Uriah Heep) on keyboards and Mal McNulty (Slade) on bass. When Paul Mario Day walked through the door, the original singer with Iron Maiden, with a further stint in More, the lineup was complete. The band toured Australia to sold-out crowds before sweeping through Europe, culminating in three sold-out nights at the original Marquee Club in London, where they recorded a live album, video, and DVD.
Studio recordings were then made at Pacific Studios in London, showcasing Day’s remarkable vocals. Intended to launch a new phase for Sweet, the project was limited to only four tracks due to a management dispute. Those recordings, along with two previously unreleased bonus tracks, are now collected on Reincarnation, available as an album for the first time since 1989.
Scott reflects: “Sadly, Paul is no longer with us, but the legacy is right here for everyone to appreciate.”
