“A Petal Of Ash” was filmed in the band’s hometown of Louisville, KY, showcasing the violent and visceral nature of their well tread stomping grounds, DIY no rules hardcore. Vocalist JP Kaine says, “This song is about panic attacks and how often they happen when you least expect it. I deal with anxiety every day, making me scatter-brained and thoughtless.”
What originated as a group of friends bonding in mosh pits became Surfaced in 2022. The band draws influence from across the heavy spectrum—deathcore, death metal, and early 2000s metalcore— channeling that chaos into something equally volatile and focused. Now, Surfaced is preparing to unleash the six-track EP, Where Angels Fear to Tread, with Massachusetts-based 1126 Records. It’s an EP about grief, confusion, rage, and the wreckage that drags us under—an honest reflection of what it feels like to be young and overwhelmed. The band is committed to the grind of the road with an upcoming slot at Memphis Pest Fest in September and support slot for Fox Lake and Kaonashi across the US this September and October. Surfaced have an album under their belts with 2023’s Nothingness Forever.
