Steve Brooks Announces Departure From Torche

As first reported in a published report from The Obelisk, Torche‘s founding guitarist/vocalist Steve Brooks (also of Floor) has announced his departure from the band he founded 18 years ago. He cited the distance of the band living across the country from each other as the reason. They are currently on tour in the US and performing at Desertfest NYC this weekend. Brooks has said he is stepping down from the band following the end of their tour next fall, opening for Meshuggah in North America.

We’re a few months away from the last tour I’m doing with Torche. We’ve been so very lucky and went far beyond what I imagined. I just don’t have it in me to keep this going living on opposite sides of the country. Much love to my band members and everyone that supported us these 18 years! See y’all this Sept/Oct
