Slipknot Will Finally Release Their Lost Album – “Look Outside Your Window” in 2024, New Documentary Also Incoming

As previously reported, Slipknot had recorded an as yet unreleased album Look Outside Your Window, recorded at the same time as All Hope Is Gone (Roadrunner Records). The record was created with the lineup of percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarist Jim Root, and DJ Sid Wilson. The band last teased the release of their lost album around Christmas Day 2019, but still remains unreleased as of now. In a new interview with NME, and reported by Metal Injection, Clown has shared, Slipknot will 100% release Look Outside Your Window in 2024. Officially Roadrunner Records and Slipknot’s deal ended on April 1, 2023. Slipknot released their controversial new album The End, So Far in 2022. As the band celebrates the 25th anniversary of their debut album Slipknot in 2024 with a tour and merch, there will also be a new documentary on the history of the band, directed by Clown, and released on several formats.

“It’s definitely arriving next year. You have my word,” said Crahan in an interview with NME. “The art’s been done. It’s been mixed. It’s been mastered. It is definitely coming out in 2024 and it’s such a great album. Corey [Taylor] is my favourite singer ever, and you’ll never hear him sing in the same way as on this album, so it’s been worth holding it back. It’s such a different, timeless project.”

Taylor had previously commented on Look Outside Your Window, also mentioning that it could be out in 2024. He said: “It’s actually funny that you bring that up. I was talking to Clown about it the other day and he goes, ‘One of the reasons it hasn’t come out is because you keep putting shit out which keeps conflicting with when I want to release it!’ I was like, ‘Fuck dude, why didn’t you tell me?’ He says, ‘Fuck, Taylor – you just got too much shit!’ It’s sounding like he’s got a release date that he can finally lock in and I have promised him that I won’t release anything that will ruin that. I think it’s going to be next year – finally, man!

He continued: “I just went back and listened to all that stuff and it’s so dope and so different. People going into this thinking it sounds like ‘Slipknot’ Slipknot are so wrong. It doesn’t sound like anything Slipknot have ever done, that’s why it’s its own thing. To me, it really is the long-lost album. The music is so beautiful, it probably has some of my favourite melodies that I’ve done, and people are really going to dig it. Clown did a really good job.”

Crahan also mentioned that there’s a documentary on Slipknot’s career coming, of which he’ll be directing.

“I’ve harvested relics from our whole career, I’ve just collected and collected all of it. Let’s call it a documentary, but really it could be a film. I’ve recently signed on with some forces for it and I’m going to get a director too.

“A lot of the footage has already been captured, but there is a lot that still needs to be compiled for it to be what it needs to be. So yes, there’s something like that coming, and there’ll be a DVD which would be behind-the-scenes too. Also footage for the 25-year anniversary, there would likely be a package for that, and there’s going to be a reissue of the album, probably.”

In a previous interview about “Look Outside Your Window” in 2022, Clown stated the album is:

“an amazing body of work” and that you’ll “never hear another Corey Taylor like this.”

“We wouldn’t want Slipknot to hurt Look Outside Your Window, and we wouldn’t want Look Outside Your Window to be a little irritation to Slipknot,” said Clown. “Why? Because it’s beautiful God art and people deserve it.

“The good news is that six months from now, April Fool’s Day 2023, we’re off the label. There are no plans to immediately release something, and we haven’t talked about it, but I would imagine it’ll probably come very soon afterwards. There’s nothing else to do, and it’s ready to go. It’ll be worth the wait.”
