Slipknot co-founder and percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan has given an interview where he discussed Slipknot entering the studio this winter to begin working on a new album.
In an interview with Rolling Stone for Crahan’s upcoming feature film Officer Downe, Crahan commented about the next Slipknot album’s progress:
Crahan and guitarist Jim Root will meet this February to sketch out new Slipknot material “because we want to write,” Crahan adds – and they’ll leave the date they actually go back into the studio up in the air.
Although the members of Slipknot have other projects in the works including a new book from Corey Taylor and a new full-length Stone Sour album due next spring, a new Slipknot album could see release in late 2017 or early 2018. Slipknot recently finished touring behind their 2015 album.5: The Gray Chapter (Roadrunner)
Crahan is doing press for his new film Officer Downe as a reanimated Policeman based on the popular graphic novel starring Kim Coates of Sons Of Anarchy fame, and also includes Alison Lohman (Drag Me to Hell) and Lauren Vélez (Dexter/OZ).
