Rick Froberg, Vocalist for Drive Like Jehu Has Died


 

Sad news as Eric “Rick” Froberg, best known as the guitarist and lead of the post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu has died. He was 55 years old The news was shared by Drive Like Jehu guitarist John Reis on Instagram. Froberg passed away suddenly from natural causes on June 30. Rick partner also posted a heartfelt tribute to him on Instagram as well. In addition to being the frontman of the innovative post-Hardcore band DLJ, Froberg was involved with other bands in the vibrant San Diego scene such as Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu, Obits, the seminal Pitchfork (1986 – 1990), Crash Worship, and Physics. Hot Snakes just completed a new album and Rick excitedly posted about it in one of his last posts.  Also an acclaimed visual artist, Rick created works for his own bands and had a long relationship with Rocket From The Crypt. Reis commented in his post:

He will forever be remembered for his creativity, vision and his ability to bring beauty into this world. I love you, Rick. I will miss you for the rest of my life.”
