Her family set up a GoFund me for her as well.

A few members of Ghost Cult’s staff, friends of Melina; have shared some more memories of working with her:

Brent Butterworth:

If it wasn’t for Melina D, a part of my life would have never even existed. Every second I chased my passion was 100% a result of her. Her wisdom, her huge heart, her complete selflessness. If not for her, I wouldn’t have met, or came into contact with many amazing people. She was responsible for the joy I felt, and she was responsible for the joy I brought people. She introduced me to Keith, who also allowed me to chase my passion. She stopped at nothing to take care of you. Believe me when I say the world was a better place with her here, she impacted every friend and acquaintance with endless compassion and positivity. I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for her.

“The hands of the many must join as one and together we’ll cross that river”

Omar Cordy:

I first met Melina when I was on tour with Into Eternity. We were in Phoenix AZ at Joes Grotto. Her friend was a huge fan and she wanted to shoot the show. Me being a fellow concert photographer, I made it all happen. We stayed in contact ever since.

She was looking to branch out and connected her with one of my outlets, Ghost Cult Magazine. She knew I was editing still in .jpg and with Photoshop. She wouldn’t have that, so she taught me how to use Lightroom. Shooting Raw on the hand took awhile longer…

Sadly, we never got to work on anything together due to scheduling. But we’ve hung out personally a few times. Melina was very caring, she texted recently about my Dad who’s been in the hospital all this month. She always reached out to me whenever she saw I was going through things.

I’ll miss her kindness and think of her whenever I edit ANY picture. It was my honour to know you.
