The year of the reaper continues to reach in and slice us right through our hearts as the music world has lost another giant. Greg Lake, bassist and guitarist best known for his work with Emerson, Lake And Palmer, King Crimson, and Asia has passed away at age 69 after a battle with cancer.
Stewart Young, a close friend of Lake’s posted on the band’s social media confirmed his death:
Lake composed, sang, and played bass and guitar on some of the most important albums in rock history such as the début of King Crimson – In The Court of The Crimson King, ELP’s seminal works Tarkus, Pictures At an Exhibition, Trilogy, and Brain Salad Surgery (all Island Records), his solo albums and more. Greg is the second member of ELP to pass away in 2016, after Keith Emerson died earlier this year.
We send out condolences to Greg’s family, friends, and fans suffering today.
