English instrumental progressive/math rock quartet Poly-Math have released their fifth album, Something Deeply Hidden, via The Lasers Edge, launching their most extensive tour to date the same day. Stream it now and check all dates below.

Something Deeply Hidden marks a significant creative shift for Poly-Math. The album was co-produced by the band, a first for them, with ninety percent of the instruments recorded individually in home studios, allowing unlimited time to hunt for tones, try improvised sections, and explore dynamics without the pressure of a studio clock. Mixed by Mark Roberts and mastered by Chris Muth, the record features additional guitar on “Terror Management Theory” by Ben Harris and additional music on “The Universe As An Engine” by C. A. Walters, the latter serving as the album’s lead single.

Bassist Joe Branton describes the result: “We’ve been able to dive into our prog and more laid-back Ethio-jazz influences much more on this record. It’s still full of big riffs and what you’d expect from a Poly-Math album, but we’d like to think it’s more dynamic, broader-sounding, and more natural than anything we’ve done before.”

The band launches the album with an extensive UK and European tour running through May 23, joined by additional percussionist Sam Simpson of Memory of Elephants. A highlight of the run is their Oslo in Hackney launch show, their biggest-ever headline performance. Something Deeply Hidden is available on CD, LP, and digitally via The Lasers Edge.
