Sad news as Swedish Blackened Death Metal stalwarts Sacramentum have shared the news that founding member and vocalist Nisse Karlén, has died. He was just 50 years old and apparently committed suicide, following a long struggle with mental health. The band issued the following statement, which you can read below. In addition to helping to form the band, Karlén played guitar and bass in the band over different stretches and was a key member across their three classic full-length albums and an EP in the 1990s. The band continued to appear at European festivals, Maryland Deathfest, and on album compilations in more recent years. RIP.
“With deep sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news that our dear friend, band member, and one of the founders of Sacramentum, Nisse Karlén, has passed away. He chose to leave this world due to struggles with mental health.
“At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for his family, friends, and bandmates as we come to terms with this loss. Thank you for everything, Nisse. You will always be with us. Suicide is never to be glorified.”
