One year after predicting the much talked about unreleased album of ambient music “Look Outside Your Window” would come out in the spring of 2024 (and other possible missed release dates over the years), M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot now says the album is in the hands of the bands’ management and preparing for a potential release in 2025. In a recent interview for their current here comes the pain 25th anniversary tour, Jim Root, frustrated by being asked about it, threatens to leak it Clown gave a new interview explaining why it would not make to see a release this year. The band has spent all of 2025 touring all over the world, headlining their Knotfest branded events and other metal festivals. Slipknot has also been recording a new album, which will be their first to feature new drummer Eloy Casagrande and the first not to feature Craig Jones, who has retired.
In a new recent interview with NME, Crahan revealed that the lost album now has artwork and a marketing plan’s been drawn up for its eventual promotion and release. It sound like the album is closer than ever to being release, but we have heard all this before.
“I did say it was going to be in 2024, and I gave it the best fight that I could to make it this year. What I can tell you is that I showed Corey the final artwork two days ago. It is happening, but unfortunately, because of Christmas and New Year and the way business works, I can’t slide it in this year. But you have my word, it’s out of my hands now. It’s being moved on, the money has been spent and there is a plan. The management has it and it is coming out.
“I’m really pleased about it and happy to finally be rid of it! What’s nice though is that it isn’t a hype thing, it’s just something we did while we were doing other Slipknot albums. It was a very honest action to make music that wasn’t Slipknot, but utilized the skills of guys with no rules. I don’t know if it’s ‘good’, but I know that I love it. I make music for myself, but I hope that the people who waited and waited and waited think it was worth it too.”
As we reported previously, the album was recorded during the All Hope Is Gone sessions in 2008. It features Clown and other Slipknot members Corey Taylor, Jim Root, and DJ Sid Wilson. In the past, it’s been described as having a sort of Radiohead sounding album.
