Formed in Denver, Colorado, in 2020, Harboured operates at the intersection of tech/death, blackgaze, and ambient black metal, powered by virtuoso performances from Michael Stancel of Allegaeon on guitars, synths, and vocals, Brandon Michael, also of Allegaeon, on bass, and Cierra White of Oak, Ash and Thorn and Emasculator on drums. Their 2023 self-titled debut on Lost Future Records announced a band that sounded fully formed from the first note.

We’re Only the Love That We Lead is their most personal and ambitious work to date. Stancel describes the writing approach: “We really wanted to make something that felt more personal and emotionally attached to us, but didn’t want it to be too heart-on-sleeve or whiny. I’ve always had an interest in engineering and infrastructure, specifically the failures of both, and found I could use these failures as metaphors for the failures we have as people in our personal lives, our relationships, or our morality.” passion.”

The album was produced by Scott Evans of Kowloon Walled City, Harboured, and Benjamin Kaplan, recorded and mixed by Evans at Anti-Sleep Studios in Oakland, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. The Faint cover “Agenda Suicide” closes out the nine-track record.
