Forbidden announced that drummer Chris Kontos and bassist Matt Camacho will sit out the upcoming fall US tour with Heathen and Void, with Eli Lucas on drums and Avery Thurman of Blind Illusion on bass stepping in for the run. Both absent members plan to return in 2027.

Forbidden issued the following statement on FACEBOOK: “We’re letting you all know that Matt and Chris unfortunately can’t be a part of our upcoming US tour with Heathen and Void, starting on October 23rd. They both have personal reasons that they can’t make this trip. Please respect their privacy as we do and support their decision. That being said, they’re both planning on being back in the fold in 2027, as we have a full slate of touring coming up to support our first new album in 16 years, a record that both Chris and Matt are a part of and made amazing contributions to.”

Stepping in are Eli Lucas on drums, the runner-up in Forbidden‘s international drummer search in 2011, who lost out narrowly to Sasha Horn due to his age and experience at the time, and bassist Avery Thurman, borrowed from the legendary Blind Illusion. Thurman is 21 and has rapidly built a reputation as one of the Bay Area’s most exciting young bass players.

The band added: “Both of them have no shortage of energy and musical prowess. We’re ecstatic to have them aboard for the tour, with the blessings of both Matt and Chris. We’re working on a set spanning most of our history, revolving around 18 songs that we can pull in and out each night.”

The tour supports Forbidden‘s self-titled comeback album, their first new record in sixteen years, out October 23.
