The Arson Choir has shared a new single and music video for “Pretend The World is Perfect And Forever!” The single was recorded by the band’s drummer Mike Eichstedts while the mixing and mastering were completed by Jeff Dunne (Knocked Loose, Make Them Suffer, Currents). The track is accompanied by a music video inspired by the movie It Follows and created by Gene Ramirez. Their second single in recent times after covering 18 Visions, the new song expands on the band’s sound that balances noisy, progressive guitar work, great vocals, typically strong storytelling, and an enormous breakdown! Watch it now!
Singer Phil Penegar states, “As a kid, I grew up with Bill Nye the science guy telling me that we have to take care of the planet. When I was writing the lyric for ‘Pretend’ I was reading the manga “FIREPUNCH” by Tatsuki Fujimoto and it painted this bleak frozen future that was a great read. The nihilism nature ride was the thing I needed to mesh the idea with the riffs. I love the experimental vibe of this song and want to keep pushing the band to new places.”
Bio:
The Arson Choir blends nostalgic and modern riffs to create their raw and organic sound. An intense live show filled with dissonant chords and creative melodies showcases a new style of fast and loud. ‘Pretend The World is Perfect And Forever’ is a departure from the band’s first 2 singles as it is more structured and moody. The sound is still technical but more melodic than what they did in the previous EPs. This single is very much the band finding their unique flavor of the sound they have been creating.
“Pretend The World is Perfect And Forever” Lyrics
The sun burns out
The stars fade to black
A frozen wasteland
No remnants of the past
We thought it last forever
Our fires choked the skies
Was this our paradise
An Eden reduced to ashes
Pass the blame
Pretend the rot won’t have its day
Such a shame
Our seeds are stuck with our mistakes
God knows
We pay the price for our neglect
God knows
We took till there was nothing left
One day the roots and vines judge us for all our crimes
Horizon turns to red we’ll see we’re out of time
One day the roots and vines judge us for all our crimes
Tore all the gold from the ground
Till there’s no warmth in the world
If I lived forever I’d own every dvd
The lens becomes a looking glass on how it used to be
Let it all burn and let the lesson go unlearned
Let it all burn and let the lesson go unlearned
