Bio:
Virginia metal band 9 Realms blends their barbarous assault of blackened metal with equal parts thrash and death with a signature, swampy groove on their newest single, ‘Mynd’. Produced by Thy Will Be Done vocalist, J. Costa and mixed and mastered by Matt Marcel (ex Thy Will Be done, Overcast) at Marcel’s Shredshed in Massachusetts, the single is now available on all platforms via Earache Digital Distribution. The group tracked with long-time friend Tony Petrocelly in Virginia, and are releasing an official music video for it as well. The music video was filmed, directed, and edited by Paul Carey for Media Art Productions.

Drummer Brandon Lundeen shares, “I’ve known J since 2012. When we toured together a few years back, we got to know each other well and became good friends. I’ve always loved his creative mind and had been wanting to work on something musically with him for quite a while. I finally told the fellas in 9 Realms we should see if he would be interested in working with us on this new track. He graciously took time to fly down to Richmond, VA for a weekend, the band met him in person (we had been doing Zoom calls previously), and it was a no brainer.”

Featuring former members of Trumpet the Harlot, Dead Syndicate, and Above the Altar, this group of seasoned Virginian metallers, who bonded at a backyard Barbecue just a few short summers ago, are posed to strike and bring their unrelenting rhythmic onslaught with them.

“It’s heavy, it’s crunchy, it’s catchy haha, the production is there. It’s been an honor and a blessing to have a guy like Costa in our camp,” vocalist Donny Doss says. “The man’s guidance, wisdom and support is unrivaled, and it really helped us bring out our best efforts musically thus far.” Donny continues, “Our video guy Paul did an amazing job blending shots and sites to set the tone and mood for the tune. Was just super fun to make and I love how it turned out.”

Thy Will Be Done vocalist, J. Costa shares, “I’ve known Brandon for a long time. One of his previous bands, Trumpet the Harlot were opening the Party to the Apocalypse tour in 2012 with Thy Will Be Done, God Forbid, and Shadows Fall.”, J. Costa shares. “In fact, Brandon and our drummer, Jay Waterman, saved the second leg of that tour and split Shad drum duties when (Jason) Bitter was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. Brandon has been on the level since the day I met him; he even put us up for two weeks in his home between legs of that tour. Those are the things you never forget. I’m honored to be working with the 9 Realms guys; great people and a great band!”

J elaborates on working with Matt Marcel on the mixing and mastering of 9 Realms newest single, “Getting Matt involved was a no-brainer. Matt played in Thy Will Be Done, Overcast, and a bunch of other bands, and is not only a phenomenal guitarist and guitar tech, he’s a great engineer and human being. We work really well together and he nailed the mix on this song!”

“J’s production and ear coupled with Matt’s stellar mixing ability ensured this track hit the level of professionalism that it deserves,” Brandon says. “Bands say things all the time like ‘this is our best song yet!’, etc. But, I really do think this will be our best received song yet. But either way, the entire process was a blast and we can’t wait to work with J again!”
