Southern Californian Hard Rock and Metal mainstays Pandemic Unleashed have debuted their new single “Drowning,” exclusively here at Ghost Cult! The track is the first new song released to feature new vocalist/veteran music journalist Morgan Y. Evans (Walking Bombs, Divest), known for their prolific output of band material, solo work, and collabs. The new band lineup has already had some positively electric live performances together, and Morgan’s long-time activism adds another layer of urgency to the new material. We need more outspoken artists like these in these backwards times. The track is a full-clout, brutal banger, and we are so stoked to share this track! Check it out!

Pandemic Unleashed has been a staple of the SoCal hard rock and metal live circuit for fifteen years.
The band are premiering their first single today with new vocalist/veteran music journalist Morgan Y. Evans (Walking Bombs, Divest). New single “Drowning” is an emotional frenzy about homes anyone can relate to their own pains. Fans of Anthrax, Saliva, or Sevendust will also connect with this song with ease.
In the short time since Evans has joined the band they have already shared stages with Enuff Z Nuff, Flotsam and Jetsam, Vinny Appice, and David Ellefson (Kings of Thrash, Metal Church, ex-Megadeth).
“Since creation, the song “Drowning” has gone through many changes,” says bassist Hannibal Daniel Echevarria. “Its’ energy is off the charts. What I like about it is that it can be interpreted in many ways as to how it makes you feel.”
Vocalist Evans chimes in ,”The song already had some ominous vibes from previous vocalist Jason, but it needed some refining. I tweaked a few lines here and there to deal with dysfunctional homes, violence and booze even more. The isolation of realization. It kind of comes off as a way more off the rails sounding “Broken Home” by Papa Roach to me now, haha.”
The single’s striking artwork comes courtesy of veteran hardcore and metal graphic designer Chris Smith of Grey Aria Design Studio.
“I love orange, I use it quite a bit,” says Smith. “Definitely influenced by Biohazard and that State of the world orange cd case (of which I own 3 of, lol). Also the the first press of Deadguy – that orange disc, and the alternate Obituary World Demise orange smoke. And yes, I wanted the bottles and knives to be like grungy x rays sort of rooting that collapsing partially blurred house as a design/graphic element.”
