Getting to experience Wardruna and Chelsea Wolfe at New York’s beautiful Beacon Theatre was a gift that I’ll hold on to with all those other special moments in music I’ve been privileged to experience.
Starting a night out being serenaded by the beautifully moody tones of Chelsea Wolfe is “a-plus” in my opinion, and for it to be in a historic New York theater is only a bonus. I don’t really have words for Chelsea, I’ve always enjoyed her music, it is a go-to for almost any playlist I’m putting together, and seeing her commanding that stage was, dare I say, epic.
Hopefully, you out there in the either on the internet have gotten a chance to see Wardruna perform live; my photos don’t do the performance justice. It feels grand in scale, using their lighting to cast vast shadows throughout the Beacon Theatre, and a symphony of drums, strings, horns, and vocal harmonies to fill the theater with a presence mounting on a spiritual experience. Which is the intent. It’s impressive, and from the other occurrences I’ve had with the band, they believe it, and it’s what guides them through this thing called life. I recommend going to see Warduna live; it’s a journey, and that’s arguably more important than the destination.
