CONCERT REVIEW: Sabaton – Epica Live at MGM Music Hall

Sabaton invaded the new MGM Music Hall in Boston with Epica for a sold-out show. Eager metal fans lined down the block waiting for the doors to open in anticipation of what was a great night of metal in the city.

The first band of the night was Epica who hails from The Netherlands. Supporting their new EP, The Alchemy Project. Epica’s highly energetic set included songs the “Victims of Contingency” “Cry for the Moon” “ the Essence of Silence” and many more.

From the land of Sweden comes Sabaton whose musical topics bring focus to historical battles as the main lyrical themes. Drummer Hannes Van Dahl sat atop a half tank as a drum riser, which is pretty badass. Sabaton is such a fun and entertaining live band to see. Vocalist Joakim Brodén seemed to had the capacity crowd in the palm of his hand throughout the set.

At one point the crowd sat on the floor and proceeded to do a rowboat motion, instead of a giant mosh pit. This show was a good one to see!
