ALBUM REVIEW: The Last Vinci – The Revolution is Made Together

Alex Vinci, Brasko, and Conal Murphy of The Last Vinci have released a lovely album in The Revolution is Made Together (Narrow Door). The album is like happiness flying through the clouds.  The songs on The Revolution is Made Together have a pleasant, even keeled feel.

‘Glitter Slaughterhouse’ and ‘In the Name of Ezra’ are stand out tracks. Both feature that oh so awesome cowbell! For anyone who gets the giggles about cowbell in music, these two songs have it in abundance. The latter, ‘In the Name of Ezra’, has a strong Queens of the Stone Age feel.

Alex Vinci’s elocution is sublime. A conscious effort went into making sure the listeners can hear the lyrics which are various themes on togetherness. Another track, ‘ECC’ has really nice rhythm compositions. ‘ECC’ uses Brasko and Conal Murphy to show loving care to what bass and drums can do together. It’s an interesting piece of music that shows their technical abilities.

The Revolution is Made Together hearkens back to college radio. The songs are radio friendly and perfect for studying or hanging with friends. ‘Adding Water to the Ocean’ has a wonderful earthy feel courtesy of a brass section. The horns remind me of 1970s funk and R&B. The composition is deep and rich and very much grounded.

The musical elements of The Revolution is Made Together fit together well here and are executed admirably by Vinci, Brasko, and Murphy to make a wholly pleasing and decent listening experience.
