7 Most Exciting Albums Set to be Released This Year

2022 was extremely successful for the music industry. A-list artists such as Beyoncé, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Rosalía, and The Weeknd released albums that defied genres and exceeded listeners’ expectations. Artists began to tour again, popular festivals like Coachella or Primavera Sound resumed operations, and it felt like a return to everything we missed during the pandemic.

Though 2022 was an exceptional year in music, we are yet to see a lot of new albums in 2023. And as we look ahead of this year, it seems like big hits and bangers are going to come up. From Blink-182, which has been silent for the last four years, to Saweetie’s debut album, from much-loved Frank Ocean to no less beloved Ed Sheeran – we are to see a lot of releases in 2023.

And while we’re eager for the upcoming albums, it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan in case we need to buckle down and focus on other tasks. That’s where a custom term papers could come in handy. Delegate some of your academic writing needs and focus on enjoying the latest albums from artists like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Normani. Here are 7 highly anticipated music releases we may get in 2023.

Rihanna – “R9”

Rihanna has always been and still is an extremely talented singer, even after she shifted her focus to fashion and beauty. The pop icon is gearing up to drop her ninth studio album this year, marking her return to music after a seven-year hiatus.

Though we don’t know much about the album, even the release date, it’s safe to assume that R9 will generate massive hype and cause a stir on the internet. In an interview for British Vogue, Riri revealed her plans to release the album sometime this year. But still, nothing is confirmed or planned just yet – we just have to wait for new info.

Khalid – “Everything Is Changing”

Khalid’s third studio album was originally scheduled to be released in the fall of 2021. But it seems like the album is taking longer to release than expected. On July 21, 2021, he released his first single from the album, “New Normal,” which was inspired by the pandemic and how it emotionally affected him and his friends.

Khalid shared that “Everything Is Changing” takes a step further. The album revolves around finding purpose and self in a world that is digitally connected but emotionally disconnected. Although the projected album release date was moved to 2022, now it seems like the album sooner or later will finally drop in 2023.

Travis Scott – UTOPIA

It’s been more than four years since Jacques released his last solo album, “ASTROWORLD”. And though he has released a few singles and the collaborative “JACKBOYS” with his labelmates, the hype surrounding “UTOPIA” remains strong.

Scott’s social media teasers, billboard sightings, and Las Vegas residency “Road to Utopia” suggest that the album’s release is imminent. Based on the atmosphere and concept of his 2020-21 singles “FRANCHISE” and “MAFIA,” we can expect a decent album with superior production. Will it outdo “ASTROWORLD” and become Travis’ magnum opus? Hopefully, we’ll find it out this summer.

Ed Sheeran – “-”

Ed Sheeran has revealed that his fifth studio album, titled “-,” will be released on May 5. The upcoming album will feature acoustic music and explore the artist’s personal struggles with fear, depression, and anxiety.

The singer stated that creating the album was a way to deal with his challenges, including his wife’s health issues during her pregnancy, the loss of Jamal Edwards, and long copyright trials over his songs. “-” marks the end of his mathematical album series, which began over 10 years ago with “+.” And luckily, we will hear the album this spring.

KAYTRANADA & Aminé – KAYTRAMINÉ

Portland rapper Aminé and Montreal super-producer KAYTRANADA have joined forces to cook some good stuff. The duo, who called themselves Kaytraminé, announced the release of their self-titled debut album on May 12.

Both of them have been on hiatus for a couple of years. Kaytranada released only one single, “Twin Flame,” in 2022, while Aminé has been relatively quiet after releasing TwoPointFive in 2021, aside from touring. They also shared their first single, “4EVA,” which features vocals and co-production from Pharrell Williams. Buckle up, something cool is coming up!

Justin Timberlake & Timbaland – Untitled

Timbaland, a long-time collaborator and friend of Justin Timberlake, has confirmed that the singer is currently working on a new album, which will be his first release since 2018’s “Man of the Woods”.

In a recent interview with Variety, Timbaland revealed that he and Timberlake have been working on fresh material for a while. The upcoming album has a similar vibe to Timberlake’s Grammy-winning “FutureSex/LoveSounds”. The producer has stated that the album is complete, and the decision of when and how to release it now lies with Timberlake.

This album marks Timberlake’s return to the music industry, and we’re eagerly anticipating its release.

A$AP Rocky – Don’t Be Dumb / All Smiles

After the release of “Testing” in 2018, Rocky has been relatively quiet. He has hopped on songs with big artists such as Skepta, Slowthai, FKA twigs, Tyler, the Creator and performed at Coachella with Tame Impala in 2019. However, it’s been years since we saw “Testing”.

Don’t Be Dumb or All Smiles – we are not sure about the title yet – will be his first official release in a while. Though the release date and cover are not yet available, the album is already complete. Rakim also confirmed that super-producer Metro Boomin’ is heavily involved in the production.

As far as we know, the album will feature Tyler, the Creator, Miguel, Lil Yachty, and Thundercat. You can be sure – Rocky has something massive to drop, we just gotta wait a bit.

Conclusion

The rest of 2023 seems to bring a lot of new music for us. With already released albums from Metallica, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray, and many others, we are yet to hear a lot of music of various genres. Stay tuned and don’t miss any of them!
