Watch Murkur Play A Traditional Danish Folk Song On An Ancient Instrument

Kvlt folk artist Myrkur has shared a video on facebook of her playing a traditional Danish folk song. She performs the track with her voice and the Nyckelharpa, a Swedish instrument closely related to the hurdy-gurdy from the mid-1300s. Hear her perform ‘Ramund’ now.

Myrkur commented:

Ramund (Danish folk song) on Nyckelharpa. Ramund (hin unge) is a Danish folksong from around the 1600s. It started to storm when I played. Ramund has around 20 verses, and there are different versions written down. It is mainly about Ramund, a man who goes to battle with the Jætter / trolls and then sails to the emperor to take his daughter to marry and then decapitates the emperor

Myrkur is wrapping up summer tour dates and festivals, before her very first headline tour of Europe this fall. All tickets and links are on sale here.
