Warren’s longtime ABB bandmate Derek Trucks appears on three tracks on The Whisper Sessions including “Melissa” and recent single “These Changes.” The Whisper Sessions also includes the single “You Ain’t Above Me.” The Whisper Sessions is a rare, unfiltered glimpse into the essence of each track – where every lyric and note resonates with newfound clarity and depth. The album features seven standout tracks from Haynes’ acclaimed fourth solo album, Million Voices Whisper, including the singles “This Life As We Know It,” which reached Top 15 on the Americana singles chart and Top 40 at Triple A radio, and “Real Real Love,” also featuring Trucks, whose lyrics were initially started by Gregg Allman, as well as two poignant covers, each reimagined to highlight Haynes’ emotive vocals and six-string mastery. Million Voices Whisper, released in November 2024, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums Chart and marked Warren’s first solo album in nearly a decade. The 11-song, self-produced collection of soulful blues-rock has been hailed Haynes’ best album yet. In addition to the multiple appearances from Trucks, Million Voices Whisper includes guest spots from Lukas Nelson and Jamey Johnson on the single “Day of Reckoning.”
Haynes, who partnered with Gibson earlier this year for the release of his first signature guitar, the Gibson Warren Haynes Les Paul™ Standard, recently wrapped a successful European summer tour with the Warren Haynes Band [drummer Terence Higgins, bassist Kevin Scott, keyboardist Matt Slocum, and saxophonist Greg Osby]. Next up, Haynes and his Gov’t Mule bandmates – Matt Abts (drums), Danny Louis (keyboards, guitar, and backing vocals) and Kevin Scott (bass) – will reconvene for the Back In The Saddle Tour, which will find the GRAMMY-nominated quartet, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary, on the road for their first big tour run since February 2024. Inclusive of their upcoming tour is a 6-date co-headlining run with Tedeschi Trucks Band in September and October.
In addition to releasing The Whisper Sessions, Warren returns to the road with Gov’t Mule for a fall tour that kicks off tonight, Wednesday, August 27th. The Back In The Saddle Tour runs through early November and marks Mule’s first big outing since February 2024. The GRAMMY-nominated quartet is celebrating the 30th anniversary since the release of their debut album.
